Just Energy Transition Partnerships (‘JETPs’) are seen as an opportunity to align national development with international climate goals and have been attracting considerable attention and enthusiasm as a new approach to achieving climate-compatible prosperity in middle income countries. One factor that distinguishes JETPs from traditional climate finance is the focus on a ‘just’ transition. However, the concept of ‘justice’ and the metrics used to identify and measure it need to be unpacked. The purpose of this workshop is to discuss the concept, role, and importance of justice in JETPs and to how justice can be prioritised in existing and future JETPs.
