This brief describes the funds that have been created by industrialised countries to finance emission reductions in developing countries and examines how these funds can work with private capital to secure the level of funding needed. We assess which countries have been the primary recipients of mitigation finance and which are missing out, and explore the approaches to mitigation that climate funds have supported in the past year.
