Description

As we approach 2015, the target date for the internationally-agreed Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), discussions on what will replace them are gaining momentum. While there have been a number of conversations about the role of the private sector in a new framework, there have been few specific suggestions on how businesses could become involved in a new set of goals.

This event, co-organised by Business Fights Poverty, Stakeholder Forum and ODI aims to shift the focus of the conversation towards a more practical discussion of proposals. Drawing on recent meetings on business and post-2015, ODI’s own research, and wider discussions on corporate reporting in the context of Rio+20 we propose to frame the debate around 3 key areas:

  • The inclusive growth and jobs agenda
  • The transparency and accountability agenda
  • Delivery through global partnerships

This event will bring together those actively working on these issues in the private sector, NGOs, business associations, governments and research institutions to discuss what they would like the High-Level Panel and the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals to recommend in this area.
