Description
Elections in Malawi have been marred by a climate of distrust and instability, by protests at the polls and allegations of rigging. Yet these elections are an important milestone, not least because local councillors will be elected for the first time since 2000. Will these elections make a significant difference for Malawi’s citizens and for its progress on development outcomes?
This event will reflect on the election process and what the emerging results mean for Malawi's political settlement. It will draw on the findings of a recently launched ODI report, Fragmented governance and local service delivery in Malawi.
