​The ODI is hosting an evening reception to mark the launch of a 9-year funded DFID-project, the Global Girls Research Initiative (GGRI).

Join us to celebrate the start of this pioneering programme focusing on adolescence,  a time of life that is critical to development, but can leave adolescents needing support to avoid risky behaviours and to make decisions that will set them on a positive life trajectory. Despite remarkable progress over the past two decades and the rise of ‘adolescent girls’ up the international development agenda, this transition remains particularly fraught for poor adolescent girls in low- and middle-income countries who are at the centre of the GGRI.

The GGRI consortium includes leading academic institutions from Africa, Asia, MENA, the UK and the US; the world’s premier INGOs working on adolescence and gender; and two key think tanks with a global reputation as pioneers in policy research on gender and childhood, ODI and ICRW.  The GGRI is a multi-country longitudinal research programme that will ultimately aim to help adolescent girls maximise their capabilities and move into the future as purposive actors in their own right, by finding out what works, where and why.
