Laura is a development economist specialising in the analysis of national and international household survey data. Her current research interests include the use of subjective data to inform policymaking and the measurement of inequalities.

Laura joined the Growth Poverty and Inequality Programme in 2012 and holds a MSc. in Development Economics and Policy from the University of Manchester. She is a development economist with experience in analysing national and international household survey data. She has estimated the effect of food price increases on household poverty using the national income and expenditure survey of Colombia, and assessed the extent of inequalities in child wellbeing using MICS surveys for 20 developing countries. Her current research interests include the use of subjective data and perception surveys to inform policymaking, and the measurement of inequalities in child wellbeing and in health. She has also conducted research on the measurement of multidimensional progress, including progress towards the MDGs. Prior to joining ODI, Laura worked in Colombia doing research on housing and resettlement policies, and has also conducted research on the measurement of armed conflict and its impact in Colombian municipalities.
