Food price update September 2012

Research report

Written by Steve Wiggins, Sharada Keats

Research report

ODI’s Food prices updates focus on tracking international prices of key staple cereals maize, rice, and wheat, and provide commentary on events in markets that affect these prices. They also follow international food and commodity price indices. This update includes a special section looking at which countries with high existing levels of hunger may be the most exposed to high international prices of maize and wheat in 2012. Most of the vulnerable countries lie in a band stretching from Mozambique and Zimbabwe north-east through East Africa and the Horn to Tajikistan.
