This think piece considers issues and possible directions in the approach to aid effectiveness beyond 2010. Specifically, it seeks to inform DFID thinking on the prospects for and direction of a new international agreement on aid effectiveness due to be negotiated at the fourth High Level Forum.
This think piece is based on the findings from a detailed literature review and a one-day workshop held at ODI bringing together key experts in the field. The major focus of both the literature review and the workshop centred on:
- Key drivers of change in aid post 2010;
- Critical pressure points within the current aid effectiveness agenda and implications for the agenda in the future; and,
- Identifying a set of feasible actions to take the agenda forward in the short term (up to 2011) and the medium to long term (five years + from now).
