The range of complementary policy approaches needed to implement REDD+ in a way that achieves sustainable development objectives are highlighted in this policy brief, demonstrating the need for strong cross-sectoral coordination and ownership in the development of national level REDD+ strategies. The harmonisation of agricultural, energy and forest sector policies to achieve REDD+ will have implications for more people than just forest dependent communities and Indigenous Peoples. These impacts will need to be explored and mitigated through careful policy design and targeted distribution of REDD+ revenues.
