Description
The integrated nature of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development poses special challenges for policy-makers worldwide, especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. It has been widely noted that prior to this crisis, the world was already falling behind in its efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the commitment to ‘leave no one behind’. Now with Covid-19, reaching these goals is an even greater challenge.
We discuss the likely impacts, focusing particularly on the role of synergies between the Covid-19 response and the Global Goals. We also explore the trade-offs that will occur and potential mitigating mechanisms so that global efforts on achieving the SDGs are not hindered.
ODI Bites is our new series set on giving you big ideas, easy to digest. We launch a series of online conversations with leading ODI experts, exploring dynamic new research, thought leadership, and responding to global challenges.
