To mark International Women's Day, ODI brings together global thinkers with experts and practitioners from developing nations to discuss the key barriers to women and girls achieving their potential, and how we might overcome these. 

Exploring the latest evidence and new research through the theme of a woman’s life from adolescence to motherhood, leadership and power, the day includes keynote addresses from eminent speakers, stimulating public panels and conversations between women who have defied the odds to reach some of the highest offices of their respective nations. 

Speakers include Rt. Hon. Justine Greening MP, Secretary of State for International Development, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, former Prime Minister of Denmark; Shami Chakrabarti, Director of Liberty; Miriam González Durántez, lawyer and founder of Inspiring Women; Nancy Baraza, former Deputy Chief Justice of Kenya; Jenny Chapman MP, Shadow Minister for Education.

Following the lifecycle of a woman, the discussion covers the global childcare crisis, adolescent girls and social norms, gender and the Sustainable Development Goals, women in power and leadership, and intergenerational learning.
