Description

Enshrined in Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals is a global commitment to ‘leave no-one behind’. This unprecedented commitment sharpens the international development agenda: emphasising the goal of completely ending extreme poverty by 2030, bringing a renewed spotlight on identifying and reaching vulnerable, discriminated-against and marginalised groups and focusing greater attention on countries in fragile and conflict affected situations. To make leave no-one behind a feasible objective we must deepen our knowledge about what is needed at country level to facilitate and bolster early action now, as well as sustain efforts throughout the next 14 years.

The side event at the High Level Meeting of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation in Nairobi aims to broaden and deepen support for the Coalition for Early Action and similar initiatives for action to implement the promise to leave no-one behind. It will present new country case-study research by ODI, funded by the UK’s Department for International Development, on data policies and financing to ensure that no-one will be left behind, as well as an innovative initiative funded by the Netherlands government to empower and engage vulnerable and marginalised groups.

Please note that side event participants need to be registered for the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation High-level Meeting. If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Parker ([email protected]).
