Research Officer

Emma has an MA in Disasters, Adaptation and Development from King's College London. Her areas of interest include disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate change, resilience, gender and social inclusion in DRR, and the post-2015 processes for DRR and development.

Emma is a Research Officer working within ODI’s Adaptation and Resilience Team in the Climate and Environment Programme. She has an MA in Disasters, Adaptation and Development from King's college London, and her areas of interest include: disaster risk reduction, climate change, resilience, gender and social inclusion in DRR, and post-2015 processes for DRR and development.


Emma also has extensive experience of project management - including financial management, forecasting and reporting; work planning and contracts; business planning; and communications strategy and outreach.


Before working at ODI, Emma spent two years working in Bangkok, Thailand - where she had experience of working on disaster risk management, climate change adaptation and development issues within the Asia-Pacific Region; working with the International Federation of the Red Cross/Red Crescent (IFRC), the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia Pacific (UNESCAP).
