Senior Research Officer
Vidya is a trained econometrician, mixed-methods researcher and policy analyst in the Chronic Poverty Advisory Network at ODI. Her research focuses on understanding the drivers of sustained escapes from poverty, and the role of armed conflict in creating poverty traps. Vidya has led various policy-oriented research projects on poverty dynamics in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and South East Asia for international organisations and bi-lateral aid agencies, and has field experience in Kenya, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Philippines, and the UAE. She holds an MPhil in Economics from the University of Cambridge and a BA in Economics and International Relations from the American University of Sharjah.
