Fortunate Machingura holds PhD in International Development and Policy Management from the University of Manchester and has an MSc in Demography and Populations studies. Fortunate holds certificates in public health; economic justice; Social accountability monitoring and participatory action research. She has trained and developed tools for Community engagement on health in Botswana, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Zambia.

She has led participatory action research on community systems for HIV treatment in Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Botswana. She has provided technical advice to Parliamentary portfolio committees on health; government and non-government entities to assist with health equity, livelihoods, water and sanitation, poverty, inequality, HIV/AIDS, health governance, accountability, power and politics, and integrated sustainable development in different technical and management roles and functions.
