Senior Research Officer
Catherine is a Senior Research Officer in the Development Strategy and Finance programme. Catherine has experience working on development finance research and policy analysis, with a particular specialism in development cooperation and public finance. Catherine’s main interests include aid allocation in a changing landscape, the quality and effectiveness of development cooperation, financing for risk and resilience, and the changing dynamics of poverty and livelihoods, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.

Before joining ODI, Catherine worked in policy research and advocacy for a number of NGOs. This included several years as Policy Manager for Development Finance at the ONE Campaign, where she led research for the annual flagship DATA Report and numerous other publications, and worked on global policy processes such as Financing for Development (FFD). Most recently, Catherine managed a research and advocacy project on climate risk insurance at RESULTS UK.

Catherine holds an MSc in Social Science Research Methods and an MSc in International Development both from the University of Bristol, and BA Hon in History from the University of Oxford. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Quantitative Techniques for Economics from Birkbeck College, University of London.
