
Soumya Chattopadhyay
Soumya’s research interests include assessing the subjective well-being impact of macro conditions and policy interventions using household surveys, identifying the vulnerable and marginalised using multidimensional approaches to evaluate persistent poverty and inequality, and issues of infrastructure investment and service delivery.
Previously, he was in the Poverty and Equity Global Practice at the World Bank and contributed to the Poverty and Shared Prosperity Report, 2016. He was a Senior Research Associate in the Global Economy and Development Program at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC, and taught at the University of Maryland. Soumya holds undergraduate degrees in economics from the University of Delhi and the University of Cambridge, and post-graduate degrees – including a Ph.D. in international economic policy – from the University of Maryland.
