Frederick Golooba-Mutebi is a Political Scientist with special interest in Political Economy. He is a graduate of Makerere University in Uganda and the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK).

He was formerly a Research Officer, Post-doctoral Fellow and Visiting Researcher at the School of Public Health, University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, a Research Associate of the Crisis States Research Centre at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Senior Research Fellow and one-time Acting Executive Director at the Institute of Social Research at Makerere University. He is currently Professor Extraordinarius at the Archie Mafeje Research Institute at the University of South Africa (UNISA), and Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the School of Environment and Development, Faculty of Humanities, University of Manchester (UK). He has published on politics and the politics of development in book chapters and leading scientific journals. He is a columnist for the regional newspaper, The East African, a commentator on current affairs for electronic and print media in the Great Lakes Region of East and Central Africa, and writes articles and features for local, regional and international current affairs publications.
