Samuel Sharp

Research Officer
Sam is a Research Officer in the Politics and Governance programme. He has an MA in Development, Governance and Public Policy at the Institute of Development Studies. Sam's research has focused on the politics of authoritarianism, and the sources of developmental commitment in non ‘good governance’ contexts. Sam's work also focuses on adaptive approaches to development, especially within developing country bureaucracies.

Sam's other areas of work have focused on the role of the rising powers in development and the politics of South-South cooperation.

Prior to joining ODI, Sam has worked for research institutes and charities in the UK and Malawi.
