Carmen holds a PhD in International Development from the University of Sussex. Carmen's research interests are in the fields of migration, social protection, gender and psychosocial wellbeing. Her research has focused on the linkages and mutual impacts between social protection and migration, including the role of remittances in households receiving cash transfers. She has extensive experience on qualitative and participatory research methods and has designed and conducted fieldwork in Latin America, the Caribbean, and East Africa. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journal publications, project reports and working papers. She is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
