National implementation of international agreements including the Sendai Framework, Paris Agreement and Agenda 2030 will build accountability for actions that have in the past been considered as separate and aimed at ‘emergency management’.

But there is a need to link these frameworks with the ongoing development challenges of reducing poverty and inequality and producing sustainable, low carbon economic development.

Our work responds to calls for policies that are effective in bringing about a reduction in disaster losses and in building resilience to environmental risks now and in the future. We aim to shift the paradigm by improving the incentives, achieving alignment in approaches and accountability in national disaster and climate risk management policies.
