ODI has been commissioned by the World Bank to undertake an evaluation of Social Safety Nets, with particular focus on the evaluation of the Productive Safety Nets Project in Ethiopia; and also public works programs and SSNs in low income countries.

In Ethiopia, ODI will undertake an "enhanced PPAR" involving two outputs: a traditional PPAR, and a country case study. ODI will also case study the Bank's engagement in SSNs over the past decade (including but not limited to the PPAR project). 

ODI will also produce two background papers for use in the evaluation. The first focused on Public Works Programs and the second addressing the more general isse of Social Safety Nets in Low Income Countries.
