The impact of cash transfers on the rights and well-being of children in the Occupied Palestinian Territories

January 2013 to December 2013
There has been a recent increase in the volume of information available on the Palestinian Cash Transfer Programme (PCT), including the recently completed study by the ODI, Transforming Cash Transfers. However, there is still insufficient evidence about the social imapcts of the Palestinian Cash Transfer programme, and in particular how it is impacting on the well-being of children and adolescents. There is thus a need to fill this knowledge gap to ensure that the most vulnerable populations, particularly children, are benefitting.

This project aims to conduct a mixed methods evaluation of the Palestinian Cash Transfer programme, studying it from the perspectives of the rights and well-being of the children and their families. It will include research with children and adolescents themselves. The study will contribute to a more robust evidence base on the social impacts of cash transfers in Occupied Palestinian Territories, as well as more broadly in the Middle Eastern region.

The results of this study will then be used to develop policy and programme responses to be implemented by stakeholders.
