They have also used it to provide a baseline for reform initiatives and to inform action plans for improving performance. This book examines the interplay between PFM and other key aspects of governance in low- and middle-income countries, using the PEFA framework and related data sets to measure the quality of PFM systems. The PEFA framework was developed on the premise that effective PFM institutions and systems play a crucial role in the implementation of national policies for development and poverty reduction. It is part of a broader set of initiatives aimed at strengthening public sector governance frameworks.Read the research PEFA, public financial management and good governanceRelated Africa's rising debt: how to avoid a new crisisThis paper offers an overview of the risks faced by sub-Saharan African countries as they try to keep their debt on a sustainable track.Briefing papers1 November 2018Reforming tax systems in the developing world: what can we learn from the past? This paper summarises key academic ideas and policy debates on taxation and development.Research reports and studies26 June 2018Public financial management and health services deliveryThis report explores the link between public finance management and better healthcare outcomes.Research reports and studies28 April 2017See more:public financetaxGlobal
