G20 countries are responsible for nearly 80% of greenhouse gas emissions, so they have a responsibility to ratchet up their 2030 emissions targets in 2020 and support mitigation, adaptation and finance measures over the next decade. This Climate Transparency report, which includes research undertaken by ODI, is a comprehensive annual review of G20 climate action, with a focus on adaptation, mitigation and finance. It takes stock of where the G20 countries stand in relation to 1.5°C benchmarks and highlights key opportunities to enhance climate action across sectors. The report presents new and updated research from the 2018 report, including new indicators, such as detailed policy assessments across mitigation sectors, analysis of individual G20 countries' impacts and adaptation plans, and a comparative policy and regulation analysis of greening the financial systems of G20 countries.Read the research Brown to green: the G20 transition towards a net-zero emissions economy 2019Related G20 coal subsidies: tracking government support to a fading industryThis research tracks each G20 country’s progress in phasing out subsidies to the production and consumption of coal.Research reports and studies24 June 2019Brown to green: the G20 transition towards a low-carbon economyThis report assesses the G20’s progress in moving from brown, carbon-intensive models to low-carbon, green economies.Research reports and studies14 November 2018Financing the transition from brown to green: how to track country performance towards low carbon, climate-resilient economiesThis paper explores ways of financing the transition from brown, carbon-intensive models of economic development to low-carbon, green economies.Research reports and studies12 December 2017Empty promises: G20 subsidies to oil, gas and coal productionThis study compiles publicly available information on fossil fuel production subsidies in the G20 in 2013 and 2014.Research reports and studies12 November 2015See more:climate changeclimateadaptationenergyclimate financeGlobal
