This report presents the findings of a study carried out in Northern Darfur in November and December 2009 on the role of community-based organisations and groups, as well as local institutions more generally, in addressing food security and threats to livelihoods. The overall aim was to examine ways in which to support food security and livelihoods in protracted crises such as Darfur, where conflict has been ongoing now for
seven years. The study was funded by Christian Aid, hosted by Practical Action and carried out together with the Darfur Relief and Reconstruction Agency.
