This is a case study examines Sector Budget Support in the Health Sector in Tanzania between 1999 and 2008. It forms part of a broader study commissioned by the Strategic Partnership with Africa task team on Sector Budget Support (SBS) which covers ten sector case studies from six different countries.

The overall objectives of SBS have been to support both implementation of the Health Sector‘s strategic plans and to expedite reform of the sector. SBS can be credited with success – to some extent – in both these endeavours.

SBS provided to the Health Sector between 1999 and 2008 has made some important contributions to the improvement of Health Sector outputs in Tanzania.
