ODI Annual review and accounts 2010-2011

Research report

Research report

While our 50th anniversary was a good moment to take stock of ODI’s achievements over the past five decades, it was also the moment to look ahead and ensure that ODI is well-positioned to respond to, and influence, a rapidly-changing development landscape.

Our Annual Review 2010-2011 begins with a Story of Change on the anniversary itself, showing how ODI has advanced knowledge, shaped policy and inspired practice throughout its history. Three more Stories of Change outline examples of how ODI has driven new thinking and action over the past year: on the mobile phones market in Zambia, on violence in schools and on the Millennium Development Goals.

We highlight examples of new areas of work by our 12 core research programmes in 2010-2011, from the Budget Strengthening Initiative led by our Centre for Aid and Public Expenditure, to work by our Water Policy programme to assess the resilience of groundwater resources in Ethiopia. Along the way, the Review highlights our work to influence the thinking and debate around the post-2015 development landscape, the post-conflict stabilisation agenda and the true costs of international spending targets for social sectors.

Information on our many partnerships, and a summary of where and how ODI Fellows pursued new directions during the year, are followed by a review of communications highlights.

The Review is available in two editions: a shorter Annual Review (available as both a pdf file to share with others and a preview format that you can browse quickly and easily), and a longer Annual Review and Accounts, which includes our complete financial report for the year, as well as full details of our management and governance.
