October 2015

The humanitarian system is suffering a crisis of legitimacy. There have been important efforts to adapt to better respond to crises, but these changes have invariably been tinkering at the edges, rather than getting to the heart of the challenges facing the system.

The aid architecture is at a critical juncture. Major transformations in the geopolitical landscape require a fundamental shift in how aid works. This statement by the Humanitarian Policy Group, released ahead of the Global Consultation for the World Humanitarian Summit outlines three key areas of change to create a paradigm shift in humanitarian aid.
