Cecilia is a Latin American sociologist (University of Buenos Aires, UBA; Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences, FLACSO), specializing in violence, conflict and inclusive development (SOAS, University of London). Cecilia has over 25 years of experience providing strategic advice to multilateral organisations, grant-makers, non-governmental organisations, and social movements in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Over the past 15 years, she has focused in South-South Cooperation, decolonisation and inclusive and participatory global policy-making, having advised and supported organisations such as Amnesty International (International Secretariat), several United Nations agencies (UNDP, UN-Women, UNV, UNOSSC), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Swedish International Cooperation Agency (SIDA), CDA-Collaborative Learning, Ford Foundation, Luminate, the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Oxfam GB, Conciliation Resources, among many others. Between 2018-19, she was Senior Advisor on South-South Peace and Development in preparation for the United Nations High-Level Conference on South-South Cooperation (BAPA +40). Cecilia is an Asia Global Fellow with the Asia Global Institute of the University of Hong Kong and a Fellow of the Global South Unit for Mediation, BRICS Policy Center, Brazil. As a social entrepreneur, Cecilia Milesi founded Subir al Sur andGlobal Change Center, a South-South platform raising Global South voices with the aim to catalyse change processes.
