Description

In September we hit the deadline for the Millennium Development Goals. World leaders convened in New York to announce the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which will drive the next 15 years of the global struggle to end poverty and build prosperity for all.

But what should the first steps be? We hosted a debate, hosted by development think tanks the Overseas Development Institute and CEPEI, to prioritize efforts to move beyond business as usual.

The event also marked the launch of a new ODI flagship report outlining a set of projections for each of the SDGs – providing the best available snapshot of the progress we are on track to achieve over the next 15 years and the areas that will require greater global effort.

The discussion was followed by a networking reception with key actors involved in implementing the SDGs, including country missions in attendance at the UN General Assembly, UN agency leadership and civil society.
